A groundbreaking court case out of Pennsylvania began to reveal the depth of abuse that took place within multiple Catholic churches across the states. In an attempt to encourage more victims to come forward, many states began increasing or removing their statute of limitations for sexual abuse cases.
In the court case, the jury reviewed over 2 million internal church documents. Now, the archdioceses of Philidelphia is being expected to pay $126 million in reparations. However, many believe that the numbers of abused children are far higher than what are showcased in the reports.
