The link between aqueous film forming foam (AFFF), per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), and testicular cancer for firefighters and soldiers
Firefighters have used AFFF (“firefighting foam”) to suppress high-temperature fires for decades–often those involving jet fuel or other fuel-based accelerants.
AFFF, also known as aqueous film forming foam–or “firefighting foam”--contains per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) chemicals that have been known to cause a variety of cancers.
Perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are known by many scientific studies as potentially cancer-causing– and, a testicular cancer diagnosis risk may be especially heightened.
Research shows there may be significant AFFF and testicular cancer risk, with firefighters, airport personnel and property owners near military bases and airports at heightened risk.
